Croydon Voluntary Actionpromotes, supports and develops effective voluntary action, community development and community involvement for the benefit of the whole community within the London Borough of Croydon.  As the key local umbrella infrastructure body serving all Croydon’s communities, we run a wide range of services for small groups, social enterprises, larger charities and volunteers at all stages of development.Check on our website what we offer; whether it's community networks, volunteering, latest news/news articles, or hiring space in one of our local community centres, we hope we will be able to help you deliver excellent services to our community.

Croydon Voluntary Action

Trustees are crucial to the voluntary sector, offering their skills and time to ensure charitable groups serve their beneficiaries well. Although a hugely rewarding role, it can also be daunting if you are not sure you have all the info to hand, to make wise decisions about your group's staff, volunteers, future and finances. 
 
This workshop will give you all the info you need to make sure you are carrying out your role as effectively as possible
- provide an overview of what is expected
- help you work out your responsibilities
- provide networking opportunities with other local trustees
- help you think through real-life case studies. 
 
Suitable for new or existing trustees, you will hear about legal duties, good practice, financial reporting, and be signposted to lots of useful resources.

How bookings are managed: We expect workshops to be very popular. 
Up to 40 people working with Croydon people can attend for free. Up to 10 people helping people outside of Croydon (other London boroughs / national organisations / international groups) can attend for a £25 fee. Refunds are given up to 7 days before the event. Bookings will be taken and assessed as received. We run a waiting list so if the event is sold out, email grassroots@cvalive.org.uk to be added to it. One week before each workshop date, we will offer free workshop spaces to the waiting list. 
Who is running the workshops: As an experienced coach and fundraising trainer, Claudia Demuth helps not for profits to set up, effectively deliver, and carefully reflect on income generation / business planning approaches. During the last 20 years Claudia has supported a wide range of charities, social enterprises and sub-regional partnerships to raise funds from sources such as the Big Lottery, Dept of Health or Europe, as well as acting as a critical eye for those wanting to set up great new projects. Currently an associate for the Law Centres Network, the School for Social Entrepreneurs, Croydon Voluntary Action, London Community Foundation & Homeless Link; she uses expert coaching and action learning techniques to encourage people to think outside of the box. 
Clients really value Claudia’s ability to quickly identify organisational stumbling blocks and ask hard questions which help challenge long-held assumptions, whilst bringing humour and patience to this sometimes painful process! With 20 years’ experience in funding panels, commissioning, business planning and project management, she prefers to keep things simple and enjoys helping people to discover ‘light-bulb’ moments.
