Rag and Bone Arts CIC is a local social enterprise, dedicated to increasing the arts provision in our community. Bringing contemporary dance, drama improvisation, devised work + art and design to young and old. Strengthening our cultural offer and providing enriching and challenging theatrical experiences for everyone to enjoy. Without getting on a train.

Rag and Bone Arts CIC

Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements. Originally developed as a martial art in 13th-century China, tai chi is today practised around the world as a health-promoting exercise.
Tai chi is commonly performed as a low-impact form of exercise, which means it won’t put much pressure on your bones and joints and most people should be able to do it.Tai chi is characterised by its slow, graceful, continuous movements that are gentle on the joints and muscles. Done correctly, you'll find that the tai chi poses flow smoothly from one into another. Many movements are completed with bent knees in a squat-like position.
Suitable for all ages, it can be an especially good form of exercise for older people, or those with limited mobility, so is accessible for everyone, what every your level of skill or fitness.

John Riddle has been a Tai Chi practitioner for more than 12 years and is a qualified instructor registered with the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain. He holds his regular classes at the Citadel Hall, Chippenham 11am-12pm.
