Glasgow-based women’s collective TYCI teams up with Declaration for the second year to explore and interpret in a thought-provoking way the 'right to health'. TYCI will take over the Friday night of the festival, bringing together spoken word, photography, music, dance, film and more culminating in an epic DJ closing party showdown. They have invited women to respond in their own unique way to the links between the right to health, social protection and between the right to health and inequalities. Elaine Gallagher is a performance poet and a regular in the Glasgow and Edinburgh spoken word scene. Her work often addresses the experience of being transgender, and takes a sideways look at ageing, family, politics and other topics. She is currently studying Creative Writing at Glasgow university, she has been published by the Dangerous Women Project, and she is making story and poem videos on youtube for Patreon. Belle Jones

She has worked in worked as an actor on stage, screen and radio for the last ten years and in more recent years has directed for the stage. Since writing. directing and producing her first production Aesop’s Fables in 2011 Belle continued to write and some of her short plays were performed at The Village Pub Theatre. She was a mentored playwright with the Playwrights’ Studio in 2015 during which time she also received funding from Creative Scotland and the Tom McGrath Trust to develop a mixed-media piece called Shame. She was a finalist for the Tron Theatre’s Progressive Playwright Award in 2016 with another play, Boudicca’s Daughters and is currently working on a new project with musicians Audrey Tait and Lauren Gilmour which they hope to develop in 2017.

A self-confessed bumbling idiot and recovering stress-monger, Paula lived for thirty years under a rock, somewhere on the outskirts of every social situation. She now spends all that nervous energy challenging herself to useless exploits and encouraging others to feel the fear, sit around for a bit, have a bit of a nap, then give it a go, you know, if they really want to.
Author of Quick Lit debut, The Between Lines, written in 94 hours and around the same number of cakes, Paula now wastes her time trying everyone else’s jobs while avoiding her own. Oh, and training like an astronaut. Well, someone has to. She makes songs influenced by the strange nuances of life, Scottish weather, the constant and the inconstant.

Purdie

From canvas commissioned artwork, murals and set design to creating props for music videos and local film companies. Purdie is influenced by everyday things she sees and has a love for monochrome, bold lines, abstract and art deco. She is also very passionate about creative reuse in projects and believes that you can conceive something out of nothing.
 
Shona Miller

Wanting to specialise in Contemporary dance, Shona accepted a place at London Studio Centre where she graduated with a first class BA Honours in Theatre Dance on a Leverhulme Arts Scholarship. Shona has performed works by John Ross, Henri Oguike and Jose Agudo as part of London Studio Centres touring contemporary dance company, INTOTO. Her most recent credits include Trust Me I’m a Doctor (BBC2), Paddy Power (Advert) and MUSE Drones World Tour (Scotland).

Working across multiple disciplines girls are encouraged to explore a range of issues that affect them and girls of the world. Glasgow Girls Club devise and deliver afterschool and weekend programs, with a strong focus on citizen journalism and the role of the media.
Since establishment in 2013 the Club have impacted the lives of adolescent girls, providing them with opportunities to experience themselves in a wider global context. Programs are designed so that all girls can engage and become change makers and advocates in their immediate and wider community.
Through international partnerships with like-minded NPOs and private sector organisations Girls Club vision is one of equality, collaboration, social innovation and sustainability.
International programs offer Glasgow girls a unique opportunity to experience them-selves in a wider global context while inspiring the next generation of strong, self assured female leaders and social entrepreneurs from across Scotland and beyond.
Glasgow Girls Club joins Lower Eastside Girls Club, Club Balam in Chiapas, Mexico, Ghar Sita Mutu in Kathmandu, Nepal, Shine on Sierra Leone in Kono, Sierra Leone to form Girls Club Worldwide.
