UEA Climate Hack – Hackathon for Climate Action & Innovation

A hackathon event to create innovative solutions to tackle the unprecedented environmental and social challenges caused by climate change.

Join us for a full day of climate innovation

Come join us at The Enterprise Centre for a day of brainstorming, testing, and collaborating to tackle climate change! At UEA Climate Hack, you’ll work with like-minded people to develop creative, sustainable, and financially viable solutions to real-world climate challenges.

Whether you're an environmental activist, a seasoned coder, or simply passionate about sustainability, this event is for you. Let’s work together to make a positive impact on our planet.

What is Climate Hack?

UEA Climate Hack is a unique experiential learning opportunity for:

  • UEA students
  • Graduates
  • Staff
  • Members of the wider community

This hackathon connects passionate people who want to turn ideas into action through enterprise, collaboration, and innovation.

What to expect

Our April 2026 Hackathon will run over 10 hours, with teams working to create a minimum viable product (MVP) based on their solution idea. Throughout the day, teams will:

✅ Generate and validate ideas
✅ Research the challenge and potential users
✅ Develop an MVP solution
✅ Build a sustainable business or delivery model
✅ Prepare and pitch to experts

Pitch + Prize

At the end of the event, each team will present their idea to a panel of industry experts and entrepreneurs.

🏆 One team will be crowned the winner of UEA Climate Hack and will take home £500 to further test and develop their idea.

Why take part?

We aim to provide an intensive and challenging—but enjoyable—experience that supports teams in turning their solutions into real ventures in the future.
