Understand Pain Workshop

I have been working with people suffering chronic pain and health issues for over 20 years in different settings, including the NHS, sport, business and private healthcare.I am Chartered Physiotherapist with a background in nursing, rehabilitation, coaching and pain sciences. In 1999, I set up theSpecialist Pain Physio Clinicsto focus on helping people who are suffering chronic pain, persistent pain, recurring injuries and complex conditions to improve their lives using practical knowledge, skills, training and treatment.Over the past 10 years I have pioneered The Pain Coach Programme. This is a blend of the latest pain science,  where I keep an academic foothold, with strengths-based coaching that uses the habits of peak performance to achieve success. The Programme offers a comprehensive and positive approach to understand pain and live a fulfilling life.In 2015 I co-founded the social enterpriseUnderstand Painwith a then patient suffering CRPS. The purpose of UP is to raise awareness of the problem of pain, the No1 global health burden, and to help people improve their lives by giving them practocal knowlegde and skills. One of the main projects is#upandrunthat combines my ultrarunning with UP Workshops.

The Understand Pain Workshop is for people who are suffering chronic pain, part of the <A HREF="http://www.understandpain.com" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Understand Pain" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">UP</A> social enterprise

The aim is that you go away with new insights into the latest thinking in pain, and what you can do to take positive action and improve your life with immediate effect. 
If you are suffering and not happy with the way things are right now, this is the time to change. We need three things to change: a belief that we can change, the knowledge that we are responsible for that change, and that we are the source of that change. With this we are empowered and enabled, feeling in control and making best decisions about the actions to take towards a picture of success that we clarify ourselves. 
The Workshop is based on <A HREF="http://www.specialistpainphysio.com/pain-coach-programme/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="The Pain Coach Programme" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Pain Coach Programme</A> pioneered by Richmond Stace, Specialist Pain Physio & Co-founder of UP, Understand Pain. 
<A HREF="http://www.understandpain.com" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Understand Pain" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Understand Pain</A> is a social enterprise founded by Georgie Standage and Richmond Stace. The purpose is to change the way society thinks about and addresses pain, the No1 global health burden. Georgie was a patient suffering CRPS, a very painful condition, who came to see Richmond. On realising all the different things she could do to get better and improve her life, Georgie wanted to find a way to share the right messages about facing and overcoming pain. Together we created UP, which continues to evolve to achieve the purpose, delivering knowledge, skills and know how to those in need.
