Understanding Anxiety and Emotionally‑Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

We are a registered charity which is run by parent/carer volunteers with children/young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.  We organise parent participation, providing the opportunity to talk about all the services they receive in Derbyshire.Derbyshire Parent Carer Voice has been set up to help parents have a  forum for change within Derbyshire services.Parent Forums are making real changes to the way councils work with regard to parents, carers and children and young people.

Removing Barriers to Education: Understanding Anxiety and Emotionally‑Based School Avoidance (EBSA)Facilitated by: Jennie Turner, Educational Psychologist (DCC)Are you supporting a child who is anxious about school or struggling to attend?Join us for a friendly and informative session designed especially for parent carers.Many parent carers who have attended this session previously told us they found it extremely informative and helpful, offering both reassurance and practical ideas they could use straight away.What we’ll cover:<ul><li>What anxiety is and how it may present in your child</li><li>The impact anxiety can have on you as a parent/carer</li><li>An introduction to Emotionally‑Based School Avoidance (EBSA), including insights from Derbyshire research</li><li>Practical strategies to support your child and reduce barriers to education</li></ul>This workshop will offer understanding, reassurance, and helpful tools you can use at home.We’d love for you to join us.
