Understanding Communication Differences (North Manchester)

Overview

This workshop aims to impart parents with language and communication strategies to use with their children.

This session is aimed at parents/carers of PRIMARY and SECONDARY school-aged children. *Other sessions in Central and South Manchester are also available.*

This workshop is led by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the Social Communication Pathway and will provide the opportunity to:

  • Develop your understanding of neurodiversity and communication.
  • Consider different preferences and characteristics of communication.
  • Think about the factors that can impact on communication.
  • Consider your own communication.
  • Think about environmental adjustments to support your child to communicate more easily.
  • Hear about the experiences of other families and share your own experiences if you wish.

Biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided.

If you need an interpreter to access the session, please email ManchesterSCP.Workshops@mft.nhs.uk with at least a week’s notice before the session. Each session can only cater for one interpreter so please contact the SCP team ASAP if you require one.
