Unfiltered: Women, Body Image, and the Illusion of Perfection
The SWC is holding a conference to address the growing pressures women of all ages face in an increasingly image-driven society.
Please note: This is a women-only event.
The Scottish Women’s Convention (SWC) is holding its conference “Unfiltered: Women, Body Image, and the Illusion of Perfection” to address the growing pressures women face in an increasingly image‑driven society. Across Scotland, women of all ages report how social media, advertising, and cultural expectations shape how they feel about their bodies, often leading to insecurity, reduced confidence, and barriers to participation in public life. By creating a dedicated space for honest, unfiltered discussion, the SWC aims to amplify women’s lived experiences and challenge the unrealistic standards that influence daily life.
The conference will bring together experts, campaigners, and community voices to explore where these expectations come from, how they affect mental and physical wellbeing. Ultimately, the event seeks to empower women, celebrate authenticity, and promote healthier, more inclusive representations of beauty.
Once women hear from our panel of speakers there will be a Q&A session, where attendees will have the opportunity to ask any relevant questions. Following a free buffet lunch, attendees will also be asked to take part in roundtables discussions, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
