Big Local North Brixton was developed for the Stockwell Park estate, Angell Town, Loughborough estate, Canterbury estate, Gresham and Wiltshire Road dwellings and Brixton Town Centre.The Partnership Panel, composed of local residents, selectedLondon Community Foundation(LCF) as the Trusted Organisation to handle all the finances of the projects. LCF manages Big Local grants.The Big Local area in North Brixton is primarily residential but incorporates Brixton Town which is an exciting and thriving town centre. The residential area is bisected by a major thoroughfare (Brixton Road).The geography of the Big Local area in North Brixton, based on history and current challenges, divides into a number of smaller areas. Each area has an identity and degree of common activity within it.

A COMMUNITY APPROACH TO TACKLING YOUTH CRIME 
UNITY FIRST is an initiative set up by fathers against crime in Lambeth who can no longer stand by and watch Youth crime ESCALATE in our community. They are working in collaboration with the Big Local North Brixton to help unify efforts in the communities that address crime. 
Every time we have an unfortunate loss of a young life, you can guarantee that a new organisation is born, and intervention work starts in that locality, often in isolation.  
Big Local North Brixton is facilitating the stakeholders’ debate on the issue of gang crimes in our communities. This is our first meeting that builds on the findings of the initial meeting in 2016, that was seeking solutions from the communities themselves.
In the long run, we hope to have a united front as we actively work on:

<LI>Preventative measures – identify and support those at risk of offending or joining gangs,</LI>
</UL>
<UL>
<LI>Engaging the community - to actively participate in seeking solutions and to support safer community initiatives,</LI>
<LI> Impact of government and local authorities’ legislation and strategies,</LI>
<LI>Forming and engaging with constructive partnership that will help deliver safer communities.</LI>
</UL>
 Join us in debating and striving to tackle the BIG QUESTIONS on: 
POST CODE WARS?                                 PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES?                            KNIFE CRIME?
CHILD GROOMING?                                 FEELING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY                   GANGS?
LACKING SELF CONFIDENCE?             YOUTH ON YOUTH VIOLENCE?                            TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT  PROSPECTS
