Universal Basic Income - The Time is Now

Compass is the pressure group for a good society, a world that is much more equal, sustainable and democratic. We build alliances of ideas, parties and movements to help make systemic political change happen. One strategic focus is on policy ideas that are rooted in real needs now but which have transformative potential, Universal Basic Income is one such issue and speaks to every element of the good society we want to create. This first piece of work is intended to show that a UBI is a viable policy option for the UK now. We would like to follow this work up with more research and in particular to help launch a poplar and impactful campaign for widespread and eventually political support for the introduction of UBI.

Compass are delighted to announce the launch of a huge piece of work on why we need a Universal Basic Income and how it could be introduced.
Come and join the authors Howard Reed and Stewart Lansley, with Ursula Huws, Shadow Chancellor John Mcdonnell, Labour MP Jonnie Reynold and Baroness Ruth Lister to discuss the growing demands for a UBI and how it could be introduced in the UK.  At the launch event we will have free copies of the brilliant report Howard and Stewart have co-authored.
