The Bridewell's gallery spaces host exhibitions and creative events produced by our resident artists plus many other visiting practioners from throughout the North West and UK.Set in a Grade 2 listed police station built in 1846 it is now run by a charity which provides 35 studio based artists and craftspeople with workspace and support.  Over the last 42 years many artists have worked or had connections with the studios and gallery, including Adrian Henri, Richard Young, Stephen Broadbent, Maurice Cockrill, Ian McKeever, Anish Kapoor and the singer/songwriter David Gray. The building itself became famous in the 1980’s as one of the locations for Alan Bleasdale’s ‘Boys from the Blackstuff’.

&#x27;﻿Flaming Fleece&#x27; by Irene Rogan is one of the central constituents of the &#x27;Unpublished&#x27; multi-media art exhibition which is taking place in Liverpool&#x27;s Bridewell Studios &amp; Gallery for two weeks starting from 1st October till 16th October, 2022. &#x27;Flaming Fleece&#x27; is a social artefact demonstrating burning fleeces on a raft over the Duddon Estuary that highlights the declining profits of the wool market in UK and calls for support to the sheep farming community. The name of the installation signifies the burning of large amount of fleece, a process used by the wool producers to dispose the unmarketable fleece produce.
