To address the climate crisis we need to equip people with the skills to succeed.

The built environment is responsible for around 40% of global carbon emissions. Timber is an existing, proven, and scalable technology which can help overcome these operational and embodied emissions. If built environment experts want to tackle the climate crisis, then they need to learn how to design and build with timber effectively and efficiently. Following the success of the Riverside Sunderland Design Challenge 2021 (RSUDC21), Timber Development UK is launching a new competition to engage and upskill the next generation of architects, engineers, and surveyors with the knowledge they need to build better, to build for the future – climate-resilient, energy-efficient, healthy and low-carbon - and to build with timber.This competition, in partnership with NMITE and Passivhaus Trust, forms one of the pillars of the TDUK University Engagement Programme which is helping to make timber knowledge open-source, connecting young minds with leading experts in low-carbon construction, and embedding timber into the curriculum of UK universities.Join us for an evening of networking at the Building Centre or virtually online, which has been the heart of the global forest industries World of Wood Festival, and find out more about TDUKs latest university competition.Who should attend?This event is for UK-based built environment students, tutors, lecturers, and professors.
