Urban Flows Data Hack

Sheff Tech Parks in partnership with Urban Flows Observatory

Urbans Flows Observatory and Sheffield Technology Parks are offering funding and support for projects that can help Sheffield become more sustainable, happy and healthy, using datasets linked to the city’s energy and resource flows.
 
You can register as an individual or a team to participate in the following Urban Flows Data Hack sessions:

<LI>Fri 22 Nov, 6pm-8pm: Preview Talks: find out about urban flows and the available datasets</LI>
<LI>Sat 23 Nov: 9:30am-7pm: Data Hack: explore, experiment and create something interesting with data</LI>
</UL>
 
Successful ideas explored at the main hack will get a share of £50,000, plus a package of support to help commercialise their project and turn it into a business.

This data hack is part of a three-year, multi-million Euro international academic collaboration being carried out by the <A HREF="https://urbanflows.ac.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Urban Flows Observatory</A> at the University of Sheffield. In 2017 <A HREF="https://sheffield.digital/posts/4000-worth-of-kit-to-be-won-in-sheffield-smart-city-competition/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Urban Flows launched a competition to design prototypes</A> for capturing new data on the city’s temperature, humidity and air pressure. Now they are looking for practical solutions that will <A HREF="https://sheffield.digital/posts/hackathon-announced-to-find-fund-software-ideas/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">put this data to work</A>. 
 
The support package for successful teams is provided by <A HREF="https://www.shefftechparks.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sheffield Technology Parks</A> and includes residency, a dedicated Project Coordinator to develop business plans, advice on a range of specialist subjects, Growth Advisors who can help your business to scale, as well as events, workshops, and socials.
