Event description

Description

If you care for a child or young person with autism and severe learning difficulties, you are eligible for a comprehensive range of support from Seashell Trust.

This is the third of several sessions aimed at helping families deal with everyday issues like mealtimes, communication, behaviour and looking for ways to help your child become more independent.

In this session, Seashell Trust's Speech & Language Therapist Kate Duggan will talk about some of the different tools children and young people can use to express themselves, make requests, share information, have conversations and better understand what other people are saying.

Communication is central to everything we do at Seashell Trust. We firmly believe that when our students are given a way to express themselves, a whole world of exciting possibilities opens up to them. But when there are so many different communication systems available, what do families need to know to feel confident that their choice will work for them?

As our Lead Speech & Language Therapist, Kate helps children and young people explore different ways of communicating. In this session, she will give a brief overview of some of the different options available as well as taking a look at how they might be used at home.

The speaker may be recorded to share with families who are unable to attend. If you do not wish to be filmed, please sit behind the camera.

If you have any questions, please contact our Outreach team at 0161 610 0741 or email admissions@seashelltrust.org.uk
