UV Discovery Walk

UV Discovery Walk

Overview

Did you know that some things in nature glow under UV light? Come and explore the beaver enclosure in a new and different light!

Come and explore the beaver enclosure under UV light! Using UV torches, we will explore the various wildlife that glows, including caterpillars, plants, spiders, and other organisms.

Some species that are elusive to the human eye burst with colour under ultraviolet light, making them easier to find. This can include the eggs and caterpillars of our moths and butterflies.

Should you find any caterpillars or eggs of butterflies or moths, that data will be contributed to the research carried out by Butterfly Conservation, with further details found here: https://butterfly-conservation.org/uv

We request that all attendees behave appropriately and follow instructions when using the UV torches. Those not acting in the interests of the Beaver’s welfare will be asked to leave the site. Beavers are wild animals that can easily be disturbed by human intervention and loud noises.
