Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

A meetup for like-minded professionals with an interest in UX. We’ll meet quarterly (ish) to listen to some awesome speakers and catch up over a beer.

We’ve got some experienced UXers lined up as speakers.

Joe Leech @MrJoe was once a recovering neuroscientist, then had a spell as a elementary school teacher. He now has 13 years of experience in UX and has worked with organisations like GiffGaff, Disney, eBay, Glenfiddich and Marriott. Joe to his friends is the author of the book 'Psychology of Designers'. He also writes for Smashing Magazine, Net Magazine and others about how to use psychology to improve the user experience.

Joe will be speaking about the power of 100 and how by combining psychology theory and the latest UX techniques, the power of 100 is a modern design framework that matches the modern complex world we and our users live in.

Naintara Land @naintaraland was Head of User Research at the Government Digital Service, where she was responsible for a team of over 40 user researchers. Prior to this, Tara was the User Research Lead on GOV.UK, and established user research as an embedded and integral part of the GOV.UK programme, the UK’s largest digital transformation project. Most recently, Tara has been Lead User Researcher on the NHS.UK Beta transformation project.

Tara will be speaking about how digital teams across government are transforming public services through a radical focus on user needs. She will talk through how this is achieved in multi-disciplinary agile teams, and in particular, the role of user research, working closely with design and content, to deliver truly user-centred products and services.

Katy Arnold @katyarnie, Head of User Research and Design at The Home Office, is responsible for a team of researchers and designers, who are bringing a user focus to service delivery at the Home Office. Currently also studying for a Masters at UCL in Human Computer Interaction with Ergonomics for Design, Katy is a usability geek and a skilled user researcher who cares passionately about user centred design. Other than her passion for UX, Katy is also a proud feminist, likes camper vans, wild swimming, and singing songs.

Details on Katy's talk to be confirmed...
