A little information about us:

VACTERL is an acronym for a collection of abnormalities that occur within the first 4 weeks of gestation. They include Vertebral/Spinal, Anorectal malformation, Cardiac, Tracheal- esophageal fistula, esophageal atresia, Renal anomalies and Limb malformations. Presentation can differ however 3 or more issues qualify for the VACTERL diagnosis.

The Vacterl Assoctiation Support Group aims to connect families and those affected by Vacterl Asociation, from accross the UK. It's a chance to learn new things and share experiences with people, that are beginning or continuing their journey with Vacterl. Established 20years and reaching for Registered Charity Status.

Our group have been going for 20 years and provide a forum for bringing together the Vacterl community and providing opportunity for families to seek advice online and meet in person. It is important for families affected by this rare disease, to have the opportunity to make lifelong friends, avoid isolation and have access to support and evidence based up to date information.

A little information about the event:

This year it will be held on the Saturday 28th June 2025 at the Great Barr Hotel in Birmingham, (9.30 check in) 10am till 5pm. The morning will be conference style with guest speakers. The afternoon will begin with lunch (provided by us through the hotel catering staff) which you are welcome to help yourself to some refreshment. There will be a link up at 2.45pm (approx.) to the US Vacterl Association group for a short chat, and then social time for the families to mingle and make connections, allowing their children to play and make friends too. We aim for a 5pm finish.

Our facebook group is very active, and while it is fantastic that people have this method of reaching out, it is important to distinguish between the healthcare systems and national guidelines of the UK.
