VCA Congress is a one day virtual event focused solely on roles within the varied veterinary care field - exploring all aspects of the roles; from the many different responsibilities, to the challenges that are faced on a daily basis.

Heat Stroke– Not Just Hot Days! Recognising & Managing Hyperthermia in Canines
Heat stroke is a true veterinary emergency – we will discuss what can cause heat stroke, how to recognise the signs, some common myths around heat stroke and how you may assist a clinical team to manage heat stroke patients. We will aim to feel comfortable understanding some science behind heat stroke, risk factors for developing it in canines and grasp some research around why we manage cases the way we do. We will also look at preparing for heat stroke emergencies and how you can help with these cases. We will also look at common myths surrounding heat stroke in canines, coupled with newer understanding of management techniques, to ensure we are practicing the most efficient treatments of the condition.
