We are a choir of around 100 members and we perform at least 4 concerts a year, with a wide classical and contemporary repertoire. We rehearse each Tuesday evening during term time at The Portsmouth Academy, St Mary's Road, Portsmouth. If you enjoy singing and want to experience the thrill of belonging to a large scale choir. <h2>Medici Choir London with Portsmouth Choral Union</h2><h3>Brandenburg Sinfonia</h3><h3>Conductor: David Gostick</h3><p>Helena Dix – Soprano</p><p>Carolyn Dobbin – Mezzo Soprano</p><p>Gareth Dafydd Morris – Tenor</p><p>Edwin Kaye – Bass</p><p>The work was composed in memory of the Italian poet and novelist Alessandro Manzoni, who was profoundly admired by Verdi, and it was first performed on 22 May 1874 on the first anniversary of Manzoni’s death. The choir was founded in 1880 as the Portsmouth Temperance Choral Union.</p><p>The musical direction of distinguished conductor David Gostick has extended the repertoire to cover most of the established choral masterpieces as well as a range of contemporary works. These include a new commission written by Ian Schofield: Te Deum (2000). More recently the choir performed Goodall: Eternal Light (2018) and Bernstein: West Side Story Choral Suite (2019): Bach, Christmas Oratorio (2021): Rachmaninov Vespers (2022).</p><p><br></p>
