This training is suitable for nurses who are interested in taking on the extended role of verification of expected death.
Verification of expected death is an integral aspect of care when a child with life-threatening or life-limiting condition dies at home or in a hospice.
By the end of this session you should…
•Be able to define the term ‘expected death’
•Understand the differences between verification and certification of death
•Understand the legal issues, documentation and record keeping requirements
•Demonstrate the correct procedure for detecting the absence of vital signs
Please note that this session delivers theoretical training and hands on simulated practice only. Delegates will need to be assessed in their workplace by someone able to assess competency in that environment.
