Question 1

How long does it take, and do I have to run?

You don’t have to run, we stagger the start so you can either walk, jog, or run. We encourage participants to go at whatever pace they find most comfortable, so the length of your challenge depends on your fitness and your approach.  As a rule of thumb, the average time is 15 minutes.

Is the event accessible for wheelchairs/assisted walking?

Unfortunately due to the nature of this event we can't support wheelchair accessible entries. Dutch Hall is wheelchair accessible throughout for supporters and volunteers

Is the event accessible for visual impairments?

Accepted Answer

Entries from blind or visually impaired participants are welcome - we may require you to be accompanied by a guide who will also need to register - please drop us an email - verticalrush@shelter.org.uk

Can I change my time slot?

Yes, if you need to change your time slot for any reason let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you in your desired wave if spaces allow. Deadline for changes is 14 February

Are there any age restrictions for the event?

You must be 18 and over to create a fundraising page and sign up for Vertical Rush.

Question 7

Do I have to fundraise?

Accepted Answer

All participants are encouraged to set up a fundraising page and try to raise £150. Our events team will be on hand to support you with fundraising tips and inspiration.

Where does the money go?

The money you raise will bring us closer to a world where everyone’s right to a home is guaranteed. With your help, we’ll reform private renting, demand more social homes, and be there for anyone without a safe place to call home.
