Overview

Learn the basics of modding and game hacking in this exciting video game remix workshop for children aged 7-12!

Ever wondered how to bend the rules of your favourite games? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of modding and game hacking, exploring how minor tweaks can make huge creative changes. Experiment, remix, and create something totally new!


Each session is 2 hours long. Sign up for one of two sessions on Saturday 31st January:

10:30am - 12:30pm

1:30pm - 3:30pm


What you’ll do

You will:

  •  Discover how mods change gameplay
  •  Remix a game to make it your own
  •  Add new characters, worlds, or rules


Who’s this for?

This is a workshop for children aged 7-12.

What you need to bring

All workshop equipment is provided. 


All children must be accompanied by an adult. Every booking automatically grants entry to an accompanying adult. Due to venue size, we ask that you don't bring more grown-ups so that everyone has plenty of room to create!


Cost

This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded after you attend the event. If you prefer, you can also leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds are processed within seven working days via our booking platform, Eventbrite.


If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.


Additional information

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.


This workshop uses Game Maker, a free browser-based application which you can download and use at home.


About the workshop lead

This workshop is led by Lee Power. Lee is an experienced teacher who specialises in design and loves tinkering with new technology.
