Two artists in dialogue through words and moving image.

Join us to delve into the practices of London-based Adham Faramawy and Brooklyn/Abu Dhabi-based Farah Al Qasimi – artists who converge in their astute perceptions around contemporary culture and its lived experience.For this artist-to-artist dialogue, bringing Farah’s current <a href="https://www.delfinafoundation.com/whats-on/farah-al-qasimi-abort-retry-fail/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">exhibition</a> at Delfina Foundation to a close, the pair will each share a recent moving image work: Adham, a short video screening of A proposal for a parakeet’s garden (2021) and Farah, her short film essay Surge (2022).These screenings will be interspersed amidst their conversation, together with excerpts of other moving image works that have inspired their respective practices in a dialogue that promises to span their influences and approaches, as well as their emerging and deepening areas of preoccupation, encompassing non-human perspectives, ecologies, agencies, and intimacies. <h2>BIOGRAPHIES</h2>Adham Faramawy is an artist of Egyptian descent based in London. Their work spans media including moving image, sculptural installation, photography, print and painting engaging with concerns of materiality, touch, the body and toxicity to question ideas of the natural in relation to marginalized communities. Faramawy has screened work at the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate Modern and Tate Britain, London; Serpentine Gallery, London and Serpentine Ecologies Symposia, London. Their recent exhibitions include Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Arts, London; Somerset House, London; Buffalo University Gallery, Buffalo; the Bemis Center, Omaha; NiruRatnam Gallery, London (solo), and Cell Projects, London (solo). They were shortlisted for the Film London Jarman Award 2017 and 2021.Farah Al Qasimi lives between New York and Abu Dhabi. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Photography and Music from the Yale School of Art in 2017. Since then, her work has been acquired by prominent collections including Museum of Modern Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Guggenheim, Abu Dhabi; Centre Pompidou, Paris; and Tate Modern, London. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held at C/O Berlin (2023); The Art Gallery of Western Australia (2023); Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2021); Wayne State University Undergraduate Library, Detroit (2020); and Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai (2019), and elsewhere. In addition, her work has featured in group exhibitions at SFMOMA (2023), Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki (2022), Rencontres d’Arles (2021); Pera Museum, Istanbul (2021); Yokohama Triennial (2020); Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto; Aperture Foundation, New York; and Biennial of Contemporary Arab Photography, Paris. In spring 2020, Public Art Fund showed her photographs at over 100 bus stops across New York City.
