The Centre for Teachers & Teaching Research and SINCE 9/11 welcome you to an interactive student summit with speakers and a live Q&A!
About this event
The charity SINCE 9/11 aims to equip teachers with the resources to educate their students on the events, causes and consequences of terrorist attacks and to promote tolerance and respect for all faiths and religions.
The Centre for Teachers & Teaching Research are working with SINCE 9/11 to discover what support schools and teachers require to take up the challenge of addressing extremism.
We would like to invite secondary school teachers and their pupils to join us on Human Rights Day.
Our panel of speakers will lead you and your pupils in a virtual session with the theme ‘Why is 9/11 relevant today?’ to safely explore issues related to extremism (including the events of 9/11), enabling you and your pupils to continue this conversation in the classroom.
We ask that teachers complete a short survey to support our research on finding out how best to support teachers around this topic:
The event will be recorded to enable teachers to use this as an educational resource.
Speakers include:
- Host - Lily Rosengard
- Professor Martin Mills - UCL Institute of Education, Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research
- Nicky Napier - Sharing her personal experience
- Sara Khan - Lead Commissioner for Countering Extremism
- Jeremy Hayward - UCL Institute of Education, Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment
- Sir Simon Schama – Historian & Since 9/11 Patron

This goes to our moderator who will then approve and release to the live stream.
Any questions submitted to the Q&A will appear from ‘Anonymous’ unless the teacher/pupil offers their name upon submission of the question.
Will our school firewall/internet filter block the live stream?
