Visible Mending Workshop
Discover how to give a new lease of life to old clothes with textile artist Liz Taylor.
Join us at our beautiful studio space here in Woodchester and give a new lease of life to clothes that may be in need of some care, with a treasure trove of Lewis & Wood fabric remnants on hand.
There's no need to discard those jeans, jackets or shirts because they are looking a bit tired or have holes in them. By learning how to mend them creatively with fabric patches they can be rejuvenated.
Don’t forget those favourite knitted jumpers, socks and gloves that also show signs of ageing; they too can be mended creatively with darns that are not hidden but a feature instead.
This workshop will show you how to employ traditional repair techniques but in an unconventional way. Find out how to patch mend using appliqué combined with slow stitch techniques to produce original pieces. Be confident when selecting the correct wool, needle type, tools and techniques to use to darn knitted fabrics.
You will learn the skills to repair your old favourites giving you a fun, unique garment that can express your personality. Materials will be supplied but do bring along a garment that you want to repair during the workshop or you can just practice on the day.
