Visually Speaking
Join Karen Hitchcock when she talks about visual communication and how we get our messages across.
Visually Speaking with Karen Hitchcock
Artist Talks : 5pm-6pm
Karen will share simple design principles that can really help to communicate visually. When it comes to displaying your work, or putting together leaflets and posters, it’s easy to overload the audience. We'll look at how to keep things simple, how to lead people through a visual journey and why SPACE is so important (this is where your audience pauses and takes things in). Karen will show examples of infographics and how information can be displayed in interesting and engaging ways.
It’s mostly a talk, with a couple of practical elements where we’ll play around with space and how it affects what people see and understand.
You can also join Karen earlier in the day during our Souper Session for informal chats and co-working...
Street and a Half, Haydock Street, St Helens WA10 1DD
A pan of soup: To keep us warm and full of energy through the winter months, we’ll have a pan of soup available during the afternoon and evening.
Karen Hitchcock is a marketing professional and visual communicator whose work brings clarity and meaning through thoughtfully designed visuals, blending traditional art practice with purposeful design. Her work is often influenced by self-reflection and a curiosity about how we see and make sense of things (the quieter details, unexpected angles and emotional nudges!).
