Voices from Practice: Learning from Different

The Professional Association of Lecturers in Youth and Community Work is a member organisation of educators, researchers and academics in the field of youth and community work. Association membership includes representation from over 50 UK Higher Education Institutions. We work with sector partners and affiliates in promoting youth and community work practice.

The Professional Association of Lecturers in Youth and Community Work invite you to an event that will explore ‘Voices from Practice: Learning from Different’ through profiling research and evaluations taking place with participants, practitioners and educators across the youth work and community development sectors.
The event is designed to be inclusive of colleagues undertaking postgraduate study, independent research/evaluation as well as academic scholarship. We welcome participants from across disciplines with an interest in youth work and community development as day conference delegates and presenters.
Presentations, papers and posters will focus around three themes

Additional Pre-Seminar Writing Workshop on Friday 18th January 2019 from 1.30-5.00pm
The Association is continuing its support for developing writing collaborations through a pre-seminar writing workshop on Friday 18th January from 1.30-5.00pm. This will take place at Brighton Jury’s Inn and a discounted rate of overnight accommodation (@£50.00 per person) is available for those who would like to stay on to the postgraduate seminar. The writing workshop will build on the session held in Birmingham on 14th September and seek to support members that wish to work towards either peer reviewed journals; conference papers; or ‘think pieces’ for online publication. It is anticipated this workshop will be a precursor for a Spring writing retreat tentatively booked for 12-13th April 2019.
