How to set up good public-use computer facilities.  Previous applicants who attend this session were more successful than those that didn't!

VOLA is launching the final funding round of the Liverpool City Region UKSPF Digital Connectivity for Community Facilities Grants programme on 23rd September 2024. Over the first four funding rounds, 158 grants totalling over £1.1 million have been awarded to 142 LCR-based VCFSE sector organisations, with up to £160k available in this 5th and final round. Prior to the launch of the application window, VOLA is hosting a series of online briefing sessions to inform local VCFSE sector organisations about the fund and provide info and advice on how to submit a good application and set up top quality public-use computer facilities. Delivered by an experience IT professional, with years of experience in supporting local charities and 'not-for'profits', this briefing session will focuss on technical considerations when developing-public access computer facilities, containing plenty of helpful hints and tips on what you need to do, key considerations, things you need to purchase, etc. We can't stress too much how how important this session will be in helping you to plan fit-for-purpose computer facilities that will best serve your local cmmunity/ service users for years to come. It will help to steer you away from common pitfalls, make you understand that there's so much more to consider than buying a few computers, and will save you lots of time and money in the long-run, if your funding application is successful... Which, if you follow the guidance provided in this session, is more likely to be! This session is in addition to a general briefing session we will run twice on the below dates, which will inform potential applicants about the fund’s purpose, eligibility criteria and key requirements, the application process and what can/ cannot be funded. <ol><li>Thursday 19th September, 3.00 - 4.15pm</li><li>Friday 20th September, 12.00 - 1.15pm</li></ol> You need to book on to each session you wish to attend separately. If you are interested in applying for a grant, it is strongly recommended that you attend both the general and technical tips sessions. It won't take much of your time, will increase your chances of success, ensure that the facilities you set up are fit-for-purpose, and will ultimately help you to avoid lots of potential pitfalls, saving you time/money in the long-run!
