The Make Your Mark campaign aims to increase the number and diversity of heritage volunteers in Scotland. The campaign is the connecting link between volunteers and organisations in the heritage sector, with a focus on supporting and increasing volunteering amongst underrepresented groups.Any heritage organisation in Scotland canjoin Make Your Mark for free by signing our Expression of Commitment. We ascribe to wide definition of 'heritage' - heritage is anything from the past or present that you value and want to pass on to future generations, such as historic buildings; natural habitats and landscapes; oral history, recipes, dances, dialects and other cultural traditions; archaeological finds; museum, libraries and archives; commemorations, celebrations and folklore.

We will do a screenshare of the Make Your Mark portal (volunteer.makeyourmark.scot), covering how to create an account and upload an opportunity.

How to use the Make Your Mark portal

Participants will go into breakout rooms to discuss what types of information you should include (and not include) in volunteer role descriptions.

Participants will go back into breakout rooms to put learning into practice! Groups will each be assigned an example volunteer, and discuss what types of information they would include in their role descriptions to encourage that volunteer to apply.
