Volunteer Coordinators' Forum: managing difficult conversations
A gathering for volunteer coordinators to share ideas and resources, and learn how to navigate tricky conversations
Volunteer Coordinators are often the sole person within their organisation with responsibility for volunteers.
We invite you to join us at our Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum for the opportunity to meet people with a similar role, network, and share peer support.
This forum will focus on how to manage difficult conversations, with a session led by Career & Leadership Coach Rachel Stewart.
Difficult conversations come with the territory when managing volunteers, yet most of us were never shown how to handle them well. This practical face-to-face workshop is designed for Volunteer Coordinators and Managers who want more confidence and clarity when conversations get tricky.
We’ll explore how expectations set at recruitment, organisational policies and colleague support can provide a solid foundation. You’ll practise using simple tools, including the Situation–Behaviour–Impact model with real-life scenarios.
You’ll leave with practical strategies, greater confidence, and one small change you can use immediately to approach challenging conversations more calmly, fairly and effectively.
Tickets to this event are freely available to anybody who manages or coordinates volunteers in Somerset, whether in a paid or voluntary capacity.
