Join us at Shakespeare Meadow to help us remove hogweed and improve the overall condition of this little meadow. All tools and training will be provided.

Terrain: Slope to get to the site but otherwise flat

What you need to know

  • All activities are subject to change at short notice due to inclement weather or other circumstances, including C-19
  • Our minibus can take you to the site, picking up at 9.45am from Coalbrookdale Community Centre on Darby Road. Or meeting on site. (Volunteers are informed each week if we will be using the minibus)
  • If you will be travelling in the minibus, please inform us in advance to ensure there are enough seats.
  • Bring sturdy footwear (preferably steel toe-capped boots for practical activities), outdoor clothing, waterproofs, refreshments and packed lunch.
  • We provide tea/coffee and biscuits in the morning break.
  • We will provide tools, training, gloves, hard hats, goggles, hand sanitizer.
  • Please use only the trust’s tools for insurance purposes.
  • 16/17-year-olds will be asked to provide parental permission before taking part.
  • Please check your Tetanus injections are up-to-date.
  • Covid-19 - SGCT Volunteer Policy: If you have Covid-19 we ask that you do not participate in volunteer activities for 10 days from the start of your symptoms/or having a positive test result. If 5 days after the start of your symptoms/or having a positive test result you have had two negative test results you are unlikely to be infectious and can join volunteer activities. If you have been in close contact with someone with Covid-19, please do not participate in volunteer activities unless you have had a negative test result OR 10 days have passed since contact.
