11.10am - Check eveyone has arrived and start the walk.
White Horse Walk 5.3km Walk that takes around 1.5 hours This trail takes in a good mix of natural and historic sights as you make your way through Hood Grange Wood, past the gliding airfield, and around the White Horse of Kilburn, before returning to the start.
This turf-cut figure, the most northerly in Britain, was constructed in 1857 by the local school and every so often is improved with chalk clippings.
There are some rough and steep sections along this trail where care is needed with footing, especially in wetter conditions and on the steps. Appropriate footwear is required.
Due to the terrain and the gliding airfield, dogs should be kept on lead at all times.
12.30 - 12.45pm - Arrive back at visitor centre
You may wish to leave when we return to the visitor centre or if you have paid for over 2 hours parking we will be able to carry on chatting, have a look around the vistor centre or grab some food or refreshments at the Truffled Hog. You may choose to also bring your own food and eat it on the picnic benches outside the visitor centre.
Parking is £3.80 for up to two hours but if you wish to stay longer and join us for food it is recommended that you pay £6.00 for over 2 hours. It may seem like a lot for parking but it helps to fund the car parks, visitor centre and toilet facilities.
Parking is Cashless by using the machines on site or by using the PayByPhone app. (Cars: 805506)
