Getting out in nature is important for all aspects of a person's health and fitness. In the modern world we seem to spend more time in front of a phone or computer and so can become increasingly disconnected from nature, the world around us, others and ourselves.

When we return to nature, we return to the basic goodness and balance of life....


WHAT HAPPENS DURING THIS OUTDOORS NATURE EVENT?

The event takes place outdoors in a nature bound space in the Wimbledon Common-Putney Area ( the exact location to be advised to all who RSVP after RSVPs close the night before the event) where we will be walking, talking and we will take a moment to remove our shoes and do a spot of barefoot walking, too.


🏃‍♀️FITNESS LEVEL REQUIRED TO ATTEND:Moderate. This activity is not geared for the superfit (however if you are fit and superfit you are welcome, however please be aware that we will be going at a steadier pace), as we will be going at a steady pace ideal for anyone who is somewhat to moderately fit.For example:

  • anyone who is somewhat to moderately fit. Meaning you are mobile and you get out of the house without any issues, but you do not have a regular, daily exercise routine .
  • anyone with aches and pains or some mobility issues that allows you to walk but needing to take regular breaks.

Barefoot walking, also known as grounding, or earthing, has evolved from a pursuit of the open-minded to a scientifically researched practice with a number of recognised health advantages.

Our ancestors evolved in close connection with the earth’s energy. We walked barefoot. We slept on the ground. We benefitted from the Earth’s healing natural healing energy or Earth Qi. Today, so much of our time is spent insulated from this grounding energy, in shoes, in our cars and indoors.

There is simple science behind barefoot walking. We are bioelectrical beings and the human body carries a slight positive charge. Our cells are specialised to conduct electrical impulses. Electricity is required for the nervous system to send signals throughout the body and to the brain, in order that we can think, move and feel. While resting cells are negatively charged internally, the outside cell environment is positively charged, due to the slight imbalance between positive and negative ions, resulting in net positive charge overall. Electricity can build up in the human body.


Why Barefoot Walk?

More recently, inflammation has been widely recognised as the leading trigger of chronic pain and many major health disorders from cardiovascular disease, diabetes and arthritis to some forms of cancer. It has been mooted that all paths to chronic disease lead through inflammation and an informative Forbes article begs the question ‘If all roads lead to inflammation, how do we get healthy?”

In short, inflammation is a reaction of our immune system to intruders – bacteria, viruses and foreign bodies such as pollen and air pollutants. An inflammatory response is required to fight off common colds and allergies, but chronic inflammation that can occur in the aftermath of inflammation can take its toll on our healthy cells as white blood cells flood to the area ‘leaving healthy cells stressed and overwrought’ (Forbes). Many diseases can be traced back to chronic inflammation.

When we make a connection with the Earth, when we ground through barefoot walking, there has been found to be a reduction in white blood cells and an increase in red blood cells, which hints to better immunity. Barefoot walking has been shown to help increase antioxidants, reduce inflammation and improve sleep.


Alternative Ways of Earthing or Grounding

Aside from barefoot walking, there are a number of ways to ground and each focuses on reconnecting yourself to the earth either through direct or indirect contact.

Increasing body to earth contact by lying in the grass or on the sand is an easy way to ground.

◼️All Connected Exclusive Events in person events are listed without a venue : just a general area is mentioned. Once RSVPs close a day before the event after 6.30pm all paid attendees will get a message from me through Eventbrite with my contact number and exact meet up details, and any pertinent last minute information in order to be able to attend. Please ensure you contact me should you not receive the message, no later than at the end of the night before the event. I do not give refunds for no shows if an attendee claims they did not get meet up location notification, or contacts me on the day of the event. Please ensure your email address is correct and up to date when you RSVP to ensure you are contactable. I am contactable on my mobile phone (this will be sent on the email message I will send all attendees the evening before the event) around the time of the event, so if you cannot find the venue or the group, please feel free to get in touch by phone.(This is for phone calls only. I do not reply to text messages)

◼️The event fee to RSVP minimally covers the cost, time and fees necessary to put these events together and is set to encourage attendees to turn up to the event. My events are listed well ahead of time and RSVPs are open until a day before the event.Reminders are sent out as well. Please do not RSVP unless you know you can attend. This allows me, the host, a chance to curate a better event for all and it creates a better experience for those that do show up on the day.

◼️No refunds given under any circumstance, except if event is cancelled (see details below): The listed fee per person to RSVP to this event is non-refundable.On occasion there might be a need to reschedule events as I don't have a team in the background running my online or in person events, it is run by only one person, myself. So there might be times when an event will need to be postponed or as a last option,cancelled. This can be due to the weather(for outside/nature events like this one.Nearer the time, if it is clear that the weather is going to be wet and untenable to be outdoors, I will have no choice but to reschedule the event.No refunds issued due to adverse weather conditions). If in the rare instance that the RSVP count is too low to run the event(in other words not enough interest )or for any other unforeseen circumstances that can come up, which will make rescheduling an event a necessity, a credit of fee paid will be used to attend the rescheduled event for another event(in person or online event) of the same ticketed price.No refunds/credits given for late arrivals, no shows, if you change your mind, if you can no longer attend, you don't like how the event was run, or you cannot attend the new rescheduled event because you are not available on the new date(in case event has been rescheduled) and you do not feel there are any other optional events you want to attend instead etc...... If there is an exceptional concern(not mentioned here)where a refund is requested, I will address it on a case by case basis. In these circumstances, if a refund is granted it will be minus Eventbrite fees and this will usually be processed within 30 days of the refund request. Please be aware of this before RSVPing.

◼️The listed event fee is not redeemable against any drinks/food or extras. Drinks and extras like food etc..are paid for by each person directly to the venue. There is no minimum spend at venues, unless this is specified. All my events are run as walk-in events at the venues.I am in no way affiliated or representing the venues. Therefore if attendees have any questions on the day please contact me directly on my mobile phone and not the venue.

Connected Exclusive Events was set up to run high quality in person and online events that do not break the bank! The focus is on the quality of connections made. All events are advertised well ahead of time. For the in person events, none of the venues are made public so only those that RSVP to attend will be informed directly the day before the event where the meet up location/venue will be. For the online events, the Zoom link is added on the day of the event to attendees. A wide variety of events are on offer, so there are options and choice for most.
