This is the ninth in a series of walks along the Thames from London to the sea.

This walk starts at the Essex village of East Tilbury. In the 1930s the Czech footwear firm BATA opened a factory in the village, a striking modernist design inspired in part by Bauhaus ideas. Workers accomodation a school and a cinema were also built. The factory was closed down in 2005 but is now a conservation area, and we'll take a look at it on the walk.

The walk then heads to the river passing Coalhouse Fort.

We will then walk along the river wall to Mucking Flats - an area of marshland popular with wildfowl with views of passing ships and a view along the river to the sea.

The walk finishes  back at East Tilbury station.

The walk is 5 miles in total.
