Walks for Women+: Alderley Edge

Welcome to Freshwalks. This Walks for Women+ event is part of our own vibrant business community programme and women in business are welcome to join us for some invigorating networking in the great outdoors. This monthly series offers a perfect entry level option and is ideal for those with busy diaries. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

This walk explores the dramatic red sandstone escarpment of Alderley Edge, with views across the Cheshire Plain and out to the Peak District.

Our route includes open pasture, mature pine and beech woodland, encompassing a loop around the surrounding countryside. Alderley Edge is a location to be treasured, steeped in myth, folklore and history. Please note this route does include some limited but steep sections.

Parking: Pay and display car park or free parking for members of the National Trust: please scan membership card at the machine.

Public transport: It's possible to reach the start of this walk via public transport though it will involve a 35 mins walk from Alderley Edge train station. Take the 09:06 train from Manchester Piccadilly to arrive in Alderley Edge at 09:34 and you'll have plenty of time to join us. Alternatively, it's less than 5 mins in a taxi though pre-ordering will be recommended. We can help co-ordinate sharing.
