The Warwick Q-Step Centre is delighted to host this Masterclass on Data Visualisation, delivered by <A HREF="https://www.richardtraunmueller.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Prof Richard Traunmüller</A><A HREF="https://www.ceh.ac.uk/staff/tom-august" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></A> - Visiting Professor of Quantitative Methods in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Mannheim. 
This Masterclass is aimed primarily at postgraduate students on our 3 Quantitative Social Science degrees. Final year Q-Step undergraduate students, interested in learning enhancement opportunities, are also invited to attend. Depending on numbers we may be able to open the event up to PG students in other relevant subject areas throughout the University.
Data Visualisation
This mastercourse covers key principles of graphical perception and analytic design,  useful visualisation techniques for the exploration and presentation of quantitative data and new developments of data visualisation such as visual inference and visualising statistical models. The course is highly applied in nature and emphasizes the practical aspects of data visualisation. Students will learn how to evaluate data visualizations based on principles of analytic design, how to construct compelling visualisations using the free statistics software R, and how to explore and present their data and models with visual methods. In short, students will get hands-on experience producing modern visualisations for their practical problems. 
Prerequisites
Participants need no prerequisites other than some basic stats and regression modeling.
Downloads
Students should have R and R Studio downloaded and installed on their computers. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: This event is for Warwick University students only. There is no option to attend parts of the Masterclass, you must be able to attend for the whole day. 
Attendance is free and refreshments, including lunch, will be provided. Registration is required as places are strictly limited. So book your place now!
