According to ancient custom, Wassailing fruit trees at this time of year is the only certain way to guarantee good crops in the Autumn. It’s as old as the hills and as daft as a brush. Wrap up warm, bring a pot and a wooden spoon, and join us as we take up the rituals of drumming, shouting and hurling slices of toast into the branches. You know it makes sense. The Wassail will be hosted by Kilter’s Olly in the guise of calendar month, January, standing astride the past and future with a snotty cold, a bicycle hooter and a ludicrous brummie accent. Needless to say, Bath City Farm is beautiful, the hot chocolate in the cafe is delicious and, with you there, the company will be unparalleled! Wassail is part of Kilter’s long-term ambition to celebrate the changing seasons in the beautiful landscape around Bath and is a collaboration with Bathscape Landscape Partnership, a National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project aimed at reconnecting people with the natural landscape surrounding Bath. All welcome. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. This event would normally cost £10+ but thanks to players of The National Lottery we are able to offer it for free! “A joy to come and Wassail with you today at the City Farm! We will be on our feet for an hour or more – you are welcome to sit on the ground or perch wherever possible or you may prefer to bring something to sit on. Cafe Opening Times: 10am – 4pm Getting hereBath City Farm is easily accessible from Bath city centre. For travel and access information, see the Bath City Farm website. Where possible, we encourage travel on foot, by bike or by public transport. AccessWe are planning to run this event on the overgrown fringes of the farm, which are sadly not wheelchair accessible.
