Join us to waymark our Godalming to Shalford rail to ramble route. Learn about how to report problems on our promoted routes and what to look out for. Plus, spend the day with fellow outdoor lovers and meet likeminded individuals!
This scenic 5-mile walk from Godalming to Shalford follows the River Wey, passing riverside trails, canal towpaths, and a former railway line, with highlights including Phillips Memorial Park and a wartime pillbox.

What to bring/wear:
Packed lunch
Water bottle
Weather-appropriate clothing for walking in the Surrey Hills
Comfortable, sturdy footwear such as walking boots
Plenty of snacks
Location:
We will meet at Godalming Station at 10am and follow the route adding waymarkers as we go along. It is possible we will not be able to waymark the whole route in one day due to the start-stop nature of waymarking, but either way we will aim to finish at Shalford station in the afternoon.
Travel:
The 9.41am train from Shalford will arrive in Gomshall at 9.52am, in perfect time to start the walk.
Other information:
There are no toilets a short detour from the route, there are some available in Godalming and often on trains.
Carparking is available at both train stations (£), alternatively free car parking is available over the road from Shalford station, a < 5minute walk from Shalford and close to the end of our walk.
Unfortunately, we are only able to offer this volunteering opportunity to those aged 18+.
