We Will Remember Them

Black Cultural Archivesis the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain.   Established in 1981 and situated in its iconic building in Brixton’s Windrush Square since 2014, Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is the only national repository of Black history and culture in the UK. We are a public institution open to everyone.Our unparalleled and growing archive collection offers insight into the history of people of African and Caribbean descent in Britain. Our work recognises the importance of untold stories and providing a platform to encourage enquiry and dialogue. We place people and their historical accounts at the heart of everything we do.Renaissance Oneare producers, curators, activists and advocates who work across literature and the arts - from fiction to poetry and talks - from book launches and lectures to tours. As a BAME led organisation we channel our curiosity, imagination and our wide-ranging understanding of literature into any given project to bring unique results. Writers and artists we have worked and collaborated with include Amiri Baraka, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Gary Younge, Ali Smith, Paul Beatty, Soweto Kinch, Caryl Phillips, Jackie Kay, Malika Booker, Saradha Soobrayen, Karen McCarthy and Ty.

<DIV STYLE="-en-paragraph: true; margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 1em;"><SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">2018 marks the centenary of WWI.  Empire troops fought in the most infamous battles of the war, including Ypres and Passchendaele. <SPAN STYLE="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">This exhibition and spoken word event is part of a touring exhibition to Nottingham, Leicester, London and Derby that commemorates forgotten commonwealth troops and brings to the fore the hidden histories and stories of soldiers from Africa, the Caribbean and South Asia.</SPAN></SPAN></DIV>
