Make & learn interactive wearable technology with stitched sensors and ESP8266 - a 4 week evening workshop series

Make an interactive rechargeable wearable badge over 4 weeks (Tuesdays 14th, 21st and 28th Jan, and 4th Feb, 7 - 9pm) to get you started in the world of wearable technology. Designed to give you an understanding of some basic fundamentals in electronics and coding in Python to control interactive intimate wearables and integrating them with textiles and other materials. We'll be making DIY sensors with velostat and conductive yarn, using analog timer chips and variants of low cost ESP8266 development boards that can help you deploy all kinds of wearable (and non-wearable) technology!With this experience you'll be able to prototype wearable tech for art, performance, fashion, product development. It's a chance to share your ideas with peers and meet other members of the DoES Liverpool community.All materials are provided, with extensive workshop notes and reference and resources plus your own ESP8266 development board and battery pack you can re-use for prototyping your next project.FAQsCan I park nearby?There are a number of car parks within a 2 minute walk of DoES Liverpool, all around £3.50 for a whole day’s parking. See our <a href="https://github.com/DoESLiverpool/somebody-should/wiki/Parking" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Wiki</a> page for details.Alternatively, we’re a 10 minute walk, or 4 minute bike ride, from Lime Street Station, for those travelling by train.Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?Under 16s welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, generally suitable for ages 12 and up.Is the venue wheelchair accessible?Yes! There’s level access into the Tapestry building, and then a lift up to DoES on the first floor.
