Weaving with pine needles - Make coasters

Weaving with Pine Needles offers a series of workshops where you can learn this ancient craft. If you are interested in making beautiful and useful objects out of natural materials then this is for you! To get you familiar with the pine needles, we will  begin by making a shuro brush. In the next workshops, we will start coiling around a ready-made center to make coasters, and finally we will set out to make a first basket, coiling, stitching, shaping it... and embellishing it with beads. You will be working slowly, quietly. This process allows us to connect with nature and with each other.

<p>In this session, we will learn the basic technique of coiling with pine needles. This is an ancient technique in which rows of material are sewn together around and around in a spiral. We will be making coasters, using ready-made centers to start. You will be also learn how you can use beads to decorate your coasters. This workshop is good for all those who enjoy working with their hands, who are keen to learn ancient skills using natural materials. We will also discuss how to harvest and prepare pine needles for coiling so that you can start looking for trees around you and collect your own beautiful needles.</p><p>All materials will be provided. Not suitable for children.</p>
