The eleventh appointment of our monthly meetup will be with Phil Plückthun (Frontend Developer at Formidable and Core Contributor of styled-components ) and Adam Morse (Product Designer at Compositor and Creator of Tachyons CSS) .

In 2014, @vjeux introduced the concept of #CSSinJS for the first time.
Since then, a lot of experiments have been made within the JavaScript community in order to find the perfect way of building UIs, leveraging the power of components.
From inline styles, to CSS modules, to runtime solutions: these approaches often require to tackle the separation of concerns from a different perspective.
In this event, we'll explore modern ideas around preprocessing and we'll learn how writing CSS in JavaScript can help building a design system.
Come join us, the only requirement is being ready to "unlearn everything".

styled-components chose to go with a runtime-only setup to support create-react-app and similar environments. Now that it's taken the React world by storm, what if we enhanced it a little bit at build-time? How optimised can can we make it?

Phil Plückthun

Phil has extensive experience a developer working with data, replatforming, and state management. He is a strong proponent of React, pushing for its use in web apps and even co-founding the Reactivate London meetup. He's also a core contributor for styled-components, one of the most downloaded Styles in JS libraries. Since joining Formidable in early 2017, Phil has focused on building React Native developer tools and creating consumer-facing React Native apps for clients.
