The eleventh appointment of our monthly meetup will be with Phil Plückthun (Frontend Developer at <A HREF="http://formidable.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Formidable</A> and Core Contributor of <A HREF="https://www.styled-components.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">styled-components</A> ) and Adam Morse (Product Designer at <A HREF="https://compositor.io/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Compositor</A> and Creator of <A HREF="http://tachyons.io/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tachyons CSS</A>) .
 
In 2014, <A HREF="https://twitter.com/Vjeux" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">@vjeux</A> introduced the concept of <A HREF="https://vimeo.com/116209150" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">#CSSinJS</A> for the first time. Since then, a lot of <A HREF="https://github.com/MicheleBertoli/css-in-js" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">experiments</A> have been made within the JavaScript community in order to find the perfect way of building UIs, leveraging the power of components. From inline styles, to CSS modules, to runtime solutions: these approaches often require to tackle the <A HREF="https://speakerdeck.com/didoo/let-there-be-peace-on-css" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">separation of concerns</A> from a different perspective. In this event, we'll explore modern ideas around preprocessing and we'll learn how writing CSS in JavaScript can help building a design system. Come join us, the only requirement is being ready to <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/theskeletoncardboard/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">"unlearn everything"</A>.

<A HREF="https://www.styled-components.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">styled-components</A> chose to go with a runtime-only setup to support create-react-app and similar environments. Now that it's taken the React world by storm, what if we enhanced it a little bit at build-time? How optimised can can we make it?
<H3>Phil Plückthun</H3>
Phil has extensive experience a developer working with data, replatforming, and state management. He is a strong proponent of React, pushing for its use in web apps and even co-founding the Reactivate London meetup. He's also a core contributor for styled-components, one of the most downloaded Styles in JS libraries. Since joining <A HREF="http://formidable.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Formidable</A> in early 2017, Phil has focused on building React Native developer tools and creating consumer-facing React Native apps for clients.

Adam is a designer that’s trying to make the web as fast as possible, highly readable, 100% responsive, and easy to navigate. Sometimes he's interested in systems design, generative design tooling, and vim. After a beer or two his only interest is discussing how underrated Kanye is.
