We're SUPER excited to announce our headliners: Troy Cabida & Marcel Bedeau
Troy Cabida
Troy is a London-based poet and writer whose work explores identity, migration, memory, and place. His debut collection NEON MANILA, published by Nine Arches Press in October 2025, brings together vivid, lyrical poems that move between the Philippines and the UK, reflecting on heritage, family, and belonging.
Marcel Bedeau
Swiftly becoming a familiar face on London stages, Marcel wears many hats: actor, theatremaker, musician, activist and poet. He is part of Centre 59, a creative partnership between Roundhouse and 59% Productions. His work blends social critique with warmth, humour, familiarity and rhythm.
Open Mic
DM us on Instagram to put your name in the hat for our Open Mic session - we'll be randomly picking these from a hat on the night. Feel free to let us know on the door too if you fancy speaking!
The Mezzanine is located in Tooting Market, off of Totterdown Street (the entrance to the right of F45!) Then, just head up the stairs when you see the sign for The Mezzanine. We'll be around to herd you in on the day!
For you route planners: we're located a 4 minute walk from Tooting Broadway Station (Northern Line). There are also plenty of bus stops nearby, plus Tooting Overground.
Free on-street parking is available on Totterdown Street (super close) after 5:30pm.
About the Founders:
Who actually are we?
Well Versed was started by three friends who met at uni – Isabella, Grace and Ellie (below) – who wanted to create the kind of poetry night they’d actually want to go to. A space for great words, good people, and a night that doesn’t end when the last poem does.
The idea came about on the 319 bus after a poetry event one evening, when we looked at each other and thought… we could do this *insert smirk emoji* x
From that moment, Well Versed was born – a creative third space for South West London (and the rest of the world) where anyone is welcome to share their work, meet new people, and enjoy poetry in a relaxed, social setting. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just curious to listen, the aim is simple: make poetry feel open, accessible, and a little more like a party.
