About this event

  • 1 hour

W e are thrilled to be working with Dr Alex Edwards to bring you this well being walk.

The walk is for neurodiverse young people aged 10/11 – 16 who may be:

• Struggling with accessing school regularly

• Struggling with feelings of anxiety or low mood

• Finding it difficult to get out and about and meet others

• Struggling to access more traditional talking therapies indoors

Walks will be co-led by a member of the SPACE team and Dr Alex Edwards (Clinical Psychologist with a specialism in neurodiversity and an interest in “walking and talking” therapies).

The walks will be an opportunity to:

• Low demand opportunity eet other neurodivergent young people

• Promote overall well-being by being outdoors and connecting with nature

Parents/carers are also asked to join their young person on the walk. Parents/carers will be able to support their young person during the walk if needed and it will be an opportunity for parents/carers to connect and share experiences as well.

The walk will be gentle paced in woodland around Welwyn Garden City. It will be about one hour to one hour 20 minutes, which allows some flexibility for the young people to explore more or play in the woodland if they would like to.

Young people remain the responsibility of their parents/carers at all times. Please note this walk is for children and young people aged 10-16 and their parents/carers. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate younger siblings on the walk.
