Wensum Water Resources Workshop
Workshop specifically for abstractors, water users and stakeholders with an interest and knowledge in Wensum catchment
The workshop is designed to discuss current and long-term water resource planning, share catchment knowledge and draw links to wider areas, such as river flow and ecological improvements. The workshop will look at the data released by the Environment Agency on environmental destination for the catchments, including modelled abstraction licence reductions (now, 2050 and beyond) to achieve environmental compliance.
Water Resources East (WRE) is hosting this workshop. WRE are your local regional group, tasked by government to plan for long-term water resources, to ensure a sustainable supply of water for our businesses, communities and the environment. WRE, working closely with local partners, are keen to talk to stakeholders from all sectors in the Wensum through this workshop, to:
- gain local understanding of the catchment challenges and needs
- identify current projects and activities
- identify future solutions eg. farm reservoirs, rainwater harvesting, nature based solutions, efficiency projects and more
These discussions will build on the knowledge generated through local projects and activities to-date.
Do you abstract from the river or groundwater for your business, rely on water for irrigation or are working on projects to improve the local ecology or amenity?
This workshop will be an opportunity to learn more about planned abstraction reform locally, assist with business planning for water availability and provide an opportunity to input into this important discussion, which will inform decision making in the catchment, can feed into regulatory processes and planning by water companies and all sectors across the region. The outcomes from the workshop will be made available through the catchment platform designed for the workshop series and reported in our WRE environmental destination work and wider water resource planning.
Feel free to share this event with interested colleagues or catchment stakeholders – all sectors are welcome, including farmers, environmental groups, industry and amenity representatives.
Please let us know of any dietary requirements by e-mailing: contact@wre.org.uk. BASIS and NRoSO points will be available.
The workshop has been organised in collaboration with the Wensum Catchment Partnership.
We look forward to seeing you there and your input into this important way of achieving water resource security for our businesses, users, community and environment in the Wensum catchment!
