You may have seen the term FAIR data used alongside ‘Open Research’. But what exactly is it? Should you be thinking about FAIR data?

The answer is Yes! All researchers have data, it comes in many shapes and sizes. Knowing what FAIR data means, will help you share data and increase the likelihood of someone looking at what you have done. Maybe even contacting you with future projects or ask you to comment or contribute. Who knows, but considering the principles behind FAIR data can help.

Knowledge about FAIR Data principles will help researchers share their data effectively, this will help in working in research partnerships and with business (more easy to understand each other’s data) and means that public and third sectors will have access to data and be able to engage more effectively with each other. Access to data is a major concern of Governments and third sectors/public.
