Event description

Description

This event forms part of Another Land, an exhibition and programme devised by students from the London Doctoral Design Centre. Hosted by Kingston Museum and the Stanley Picker Gallery, Another Land aims to showcase experimental visualisations of place in art and design research. Using the artist Karen Bosy’s zine ‘What is public space?’, this workshop explores intuitive shape-making to visualise a personal concept of place. Progressing from ideas of public space, the workshop will move from the general to the specific, as individuals each contribute ideas of events and develop a manifesto. Following on from this, participants use tissue paper and video to respond to the brief. This can be filmed using phones, for example, and participants will be invited to contribute to a collective, dispersed artwork based in public digital space.

Biography

Karen Bosy is an artist and researcher based in London, UK. Her experience lies in moving image, still photography, zines, drawing, lithography, sound and born-digital artwork as a presentation of ongoing documentarist (diarist) site exploration work using dispersal as a technique. Currently a PhD candidate at the Royal College of Art, Karen is developing a project exploring daydreaming, intimacy and the experience of using satellite (GPS) technology in relation to site-based and landscape-based dispersal.
