What Now? Future Creation Workshop

This activity is part of Reading Climate Festival’s Reimagine Reading Community Lunch – a peaceful space to gather in person halfway through Reading Climate Festival.

Join Commando Jugendstil in Forbury Gardens to write a story of abundance for Reading.

What does the future look like? What is society for? With everything that is going on in the world, it is easy to fall prey to aimless anger and despair.

But what if it didn’t have to be like that?

What if by acting together, all of us, nobody left behind, we turned the tide, and tilted the horizon?

What if we won? What would a future of abundance and fulfilment in harmony with the rest of nature look like? What will we gain by getting there? What will we leave behind, like so much unwanted baggage? Who are the people we will walk this road with?

Together we will imagine what our towns and cities, our society and our way of living would look like if they truly served all the people equally and were designed to function in harmony with the rest of nature.

We will envision what a good life means in practice through art, writing and spoken word, and we will try to imagine what concrete, collective steps it will take to get there together.

This workshop is delivered in partnership with the Reading NEB Committee and is meant to help those who have seen the NEB screening process the information in a creative, hopeful way, but you don’t have to have watched the screening to take part.
