About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

What's that tree? If you have found yourself wanting to answer that question, invest a morning of your time (and £20) on this half-day course with members of the Bath Urban Treescape team in the wonderful Sydney Gardens, home to over 70 species.

The team have developed the course in response to many requests from participants on their guided tree walks.

This is a practical workshop with the majority of our time being spent on coached field work amongst the trees. We will also introduce accessible tree theory and resources to enable you to continue your tree-learning journey after we finish.

The course tutors are Hugh Williamson, Fiona Bell and Lucy Bartlett. Hugh's CV includes 25 years of self-taught tree identification. Both he and Fiona have many years experience designing and delivering training for blue chip companies. Lucy has a proven track record delivering popular events over the six years of the Bathscape Landscape Partnership.

Participants should bring a notebook, a re-useable cup for hot drinks and a water bottle. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please wear clothing appropriate for outdoor walking around the grounds of the park.

A small tape measure and a hand magnifier will be useful but not essential.

All proceeds will go to the cost of printing tree trail maps
