When first-line therapy fails: current challenges modelling metastasis & recurrence

Our aim is to support wider collaboration and co-operation between pre-clinical researchers to ultimately drive break-throughs in cancer research and drug discovery.Repositive has built a software platform for oncology researchers and preclinical research programmes to identify the translational cancer models that optimally represent their specific cancer types and targeted patient sub-populations.We aggregate metadata and molecular characterisation from multiple vendors into a single secure portal. By standardising key characteristics that make complex data searchable, models can be readily identified, compared and selected.

Improving outcomes for cancer patients requires biopharmas to develop effective therapies for not just primary tumours but also for metastatic growths and secondary tumours, which have acquired resistance to first-line therapy. But the vast majority of animal models available for pre-clinical research are based on evaluating primary tumour sites and the literature for modelling metastases in vitro is still relatively small.
